Es Mejor Saber (It’s better to know)
Es Mejor Saber is the latest HIV prevention campaign produced by Southwest CARE Center. While the campaign can appeal to any viewer, emphasis has been placed on reaching the ever growing Latino community, Hispanic women, and intravenous drug users living in Santa Fe and in Northern New Mexico rural communities. Its intent is to bring these populations into testing, reach those who are positive before their illness becomes life threatening or difficult to manage, engage them in treatment and educate them on measures to prevent the transmission of the virus.
The unique approach of this campaign is intended to draw-in the audience and engage them in an authentic and relevant manner regarding HIV, the need for early testing and the benefits of knowing ones HIV status.
Es Mejor Saber is partially funded by the New Mexico Community AIDS Partnership, Con Alma Health Foundation, and the NM Department of Health, and brought to light by The Santa Fe Reporter, Hutton Broadcasting and Comcast Cable.
